Welcome to Sanford Oaks Animal Clinic!

Our clinic is staffed with three veterinarians, Dr. Karen Young, who is the Medical Director, and Dr. Esther Grissom and Dr. Jennifer Benton, who are here part-time. Our hospital is fully staffed with veterinary technicians and assistants, receptionists, and an office manager. All of our team are trained formally through a degree and licensing program, certification program, and/or receive on-the-job training. All team members attend monthly team meetings and participate in regular continuing education seminars. Many of our team attend the annual Texas Veterinary Medical Association conference or other veterinary conferences to learn together and discuss new ideas for the clinic.

Beyond providing excellent veterinary care for your pet and an enjoyable clinic experience for you, our vision is to provide a beautiful workday for each member of our team. To honor that goal, we ask that you schedule wellness exams at least 2 weeks in advance. This will also allow us to be available for the pets that come in for urgent care without sacrificing appropriate attention to those already scheduled for their wellness needs. Thank you for helping us care for all the pets AND people involved in the work we do.

In some cases your pet may benefit from having a referral. In DFW there are a number of neurologists, dermatologists, ophthalmologists, cardiologists and surgeons who have specialized for an additional four years of training in their fields. We can help you find the appropriate specialist and will stay in dialogue with you and their clinic to work together for your pet’s health.

Dr. Karen is a Fear Free Certified Professional

We know that many pets and owners experience stress and anxiety associated with taking a pet to the veterinarian. That fear can easily lead to negative, even traumatic, experiences for pets and people.

As part of the Fear Free movement in veterinary medicine, we work to reduce feelings of stress, resulting in a better experience for all involved. Ask any of our team members and we can share more details about this important movement in veterinary medicine and what it means for our hospital.
